Congratulation to PUTIEN, turning 16 took a starry twist in the form of winning the ONE STAR MICHELIN AWARD for its Kitchener Road Outlet by the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2016.
I blogged about PUTIEN food review at SS15 Courtyard before, so i don't want to tell the long story of origin of PUTIEN again, you can read my previous post at
That first modest and down-to-earth PUTIEN outlet serving simple yet wholesome meals derived from the traditional concoctions of the founder Mr. Fong Chi Chung's native Putian home kitchen has since grown into a popular chain with 28 outlets internationally in the last 16 years and will soon expand into 33 outlets by end of 2016.
PUTIEN household SRO philosophy for over the last 16 years :
- Seeking out the freshest and best source of ingredients, using only the best and most premium part of the ingredients
- Revealing the season's best ingredients according to the law of nature, helps our body mesh harmoniously with the 4 seasons, boosting wellness.
- Bringing out the best and most original taste of the ingredients.
I was honored to be there to celebrated PUTIEN 16th Anniversary and ONE STAR MICHELIN achievement with an exclusive starry and festive gala dinner at PUTIEN 1 Utama, along with media and associates.
The Gala Dinner, also served as a launching pad to introduce PUTIEN Festival with a month long celebration featuring Festival Roadshow and a special Festival menu comprising a sumptuous selection of new dishes. (refer my food review as below)
The Gala dinner begins with light dishes that will warm your appetite.
Starter Platters 开胃四小碟(Festival Menu)
Seaweed With Mini Shrimps 虾苗拌紫菜
Braised Bamboo Shoot 家常焖笋干
PUTIEN Style Centaury Egg 糖醋皮蛋
Braised PUTIEN Handmade Bean Curd 卤水嫩豆腐
Followed by "Yan Pi" Fish Maw Soup 燕皮鱼鳔汤 (Festival Menu)
This Fish Maw is not same as "fa kau", it is the fish bladder or swim bladder of the fish, high nutritional value in it. Nothing beats a evening like a hot bowl of this fish maw soup. =)
Shredded Meat with Bun 黄金荷叶包
The tender shredded pork with sweet onions is wrapped with handmade golden sesame bun. Well, i don't take onion, so i just pick the shredder port on very fluffy bun, taste delicious too!
Deep Fried Yellow Croaker 咸香黄花鱼 (Festival Menu)
Our favourite dish of the whole night! Marinated with premium peppercorn and sea salt for 24 hours prior to deep-frying to crispness yet still tender, juicy meat within. When you ingest fish that still has some of its smaller bones in it, its actually can consume but just be careful, don't eat in hurry.
Strawberry Prawn 草莓虾 (Festival Menu)
Honestly, i don't like this dish. The strawberry sauce is quite awkward to paired with the prawns, it is not a good combination for me. *sorry*
PUTIEN Lor Mee 莆田卤面
Silky Putian noodles with pork belly, prawn and clam braised in a luscious pork broth. I prefer this instead of PUTIEN Heng Hwa Bee Hoon, the gravy isn't as thickh as the Lor Mee we usually eat, but it is so flavour and slightly sweet while the soup infused by pork belly, prawn and clam. Taste so good!
Last up was dessert, PUTIEN served us Chilled Lemongrass Jelly With Fruits香茅冻 which is a Lemongrass jelly topped with mixed fruits. Every spoonful is as refreshing but i find that their lemongrass aroma isn't strong.
There are 3 PUTIEN branches in Malaysia currently :
1 Utama (G213A, Old WIng)
Sunway Pyramid (LG1.45, Lower Ground Floor)
SS15 Courtyard (1-05, First Floor)
