Happy New Year everyone! I didn't went for NYE countdown party but i had a lavish and scrumptious New Year dinner with my friends at Chun Ciou Hot Pot, a newly opened hot pot restaurant which located along Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.
Chun Ciou is a stand-alone double-storey building which paint in all black with a huge signage on top, easy to spot it as it is nearby 3rd Mile Square or 9 Seputeh Condo Old Klang Road, you'll see it along the Old Klang Road towards Mid Valley. I had try their Sukiyaki Soup, Lakesalt Soup, Tonkatsu Soup and Spicy Soup. It is my very first time to try the LakeSalt Soup Base (湖盐汤底), i don't even had it during my Taiwan trip. My first impression of this soup base is quite similar to local Superior Soup (清汤) with a mild taste, but after soak all ingredients into broth which helps enhance any flavor in the soup, this LakeSalt soup base is the perfect to boil and reboil while other soup base become salty. It is also the most popular soup base among all!
My second favourite is the Sukiyaki Soup Base (壽喜湯底), so flavourful with a hint of sweetness and best for dipping the meats. I am a big fan of spicy soup(麻辣汤底) but this version is lack of spiciness (sorry, i like to eat super spicy) whilst Tonkatsu Soup (高级豚骨汤底) is comes with not very strong pork flavour, taste good as i don't take pork LOL!

Pickled Cherry Tomatoes (梅漬蕃茄), Golden Kimchi (黄金泡菜) and Pickled Mango Lotus Root (芒香藕片).
Personally like pickled mango lotus root, so nice to stimulate my appetite!

Step 1 - Add sesame sauce into sauce bowl (Put more for sweeter taste)

将军霜降牛 Australian Striploin is my love!!!!! I choose to dip this thinly slice into the Sukiyaki soup base for few seconds and enjoy the delicate beef flavour and velvety texture. I don't eat pork, so i just non-stop eating this Australian Ribeyes and Australian Striploin until my stomach burst!

Black Sesame Mochi Ball (黑芝麻糯米糍) is the highlight of hot pot too. You might feel awkward that we soak mochi in soup, but it is Taiwanese hot pot culture.
Dump the mochi in salty soup, it was amazingly taste good! You must try it.

I was like indulge in a real Taiwan ambience over a piece of premium quality meat, homemade appetiser and recipe, customer service and sauces. The staffs will come and ask you need to reload anything on table. Seriously, i had too many pieces of premium air-flown meat yesterday, price range is consider affordable while all ingredients and service they provided are excellent. Franky speaking, i had bad hotpot experience in Taiwanese famous restaurant, have to order in package set and cost me RM100 per pax, at the end i got to go home cook maggie mee because there are too little to feed me. So, you just need to pay RM80-90 and eat until FULL, worth it! Guess what, my mum keep asking me to bring her go and try after saw my social media picture. LOL!
