Raise up your hand if you love Hong-Kong-style wonton noodle!
Me Me Me!!!
I love to travelling to Hong Kong at least once in a year, to enjoy a bowl of authentic Hong-Kong-style wonton noodle is one of my must-do mission. I just love it too much LOL! And i can't find the taste in Malaysia!
Until i've been invited to Mak's Chee's new outlet at Pavilion Elite for a food preview session, this is my first time being here.
Mak’s Chee is a quick casual restaurant serving authentic Hong-Kong-style wonton noodles, famous with its 100-year old recipe from the Mak’s Family.
| A short introduction of Mak’s Chee |
Their recipe originated from a street-side eatery in Guangzhou before World War II by Mr. Mak Woon-Chee, known as the King of Wonton. The war brought the Mak’s Family to Hong Kong and Woon-Chee’s lineal descendants carried on the recipe and tradition since then. From there on, the Mak’s name grew in popularity in Hong Kong and the “gold fish shaped” wontons and the special homemade noodles received Michelin’s Bib-Gourmand title. The recipe was complimented by a long list of famous personalities such as the Former President of the Republic of China - Chiang Kai-Shek and Former First Lady Soong May-Ling, the infamous food critic Chua Lam as well as renowned American chef, author & TV host Anthony Bourdain.
The first outlet was opened at 1 Utama last year with the huge good responds, Mak's Chee is set to open its second outlet at Pavilion Elite on 1st May 2017.
Unlike to 1 Utama outlet's interior design is more to traditional noodle house, this second outlet at Pavilion Elite has a contemporary ambience with half part of traditional setting and modern cafe setting with high chairs on the other side.
Mak’s Chee will maintain all traditional food preparation procedures, cooking methods and tools used to emulate the similar kitchen environment of the past in all its outlets in their effort to reinforce brand and food quality assurance to their customers.
In conjunction with the opening of its second outlet, Mak’s Chee is introducing a new, delectable and authentic limited time promotional dish - Swiss Chicken Leg (瑞士鸡腿), to tantalise the busy working professionals, tourists and families alike.
I think Malaysians are not familiar with Swiss Chicken Leg, it is a specialty of Hong Kong food culture which is slow-cooked with sweet soy sauce and a variety of herbs and spices. Despite the name "Swiss," it is unrelated to Switzerland, and indeed a local Hong Kong recipe.
Mak’s Chee Swiss Chicken Leg is tender and juicy, seasoned with variety of herbs and spice, i like the sweet soy sauce which is so flavourful, close in texture to the moist and tender drumstick that I so love.
Swiss Chicken Leg Dry Noodle
Swiss Chicken Leg Rice with Sunny Side-up Egg
This promotional dish is now offered at an introductory promotional price starting from RM9.90 per plate from 4th May to 31st July, 2017.
There will be three options to choose that will definitely tease the taste buds of food lovers :
Original Swiss Chicken Leg, Swiss Chicken Leg Rice with Sunny Side-up Egg, Swiss Chicken Leg Dry Noodle.
Beef Tendon & Brisket Soup Noodle 柱侯牛筋腩汤面
RM13.90 (Small) | RM15.90 (Large)
I don't like our local wonton noodle because it always have a strong alkaline taste which i really hate it, the noodle’s texture here is springy and so flavorful with an aromatic five-spice sauce, the most important is without alkaline taste! Love it....
There are 2 options for noodle : thin noodle or flat noodle, if you doesn't specified the noodle type, it will be default to thin noodle.
Also, you can request to add more beef sauce into the soup to boost flavour and make your soup more satisfying. Just need to put a remark "add beef sauce" upon ordering, it cost you RM0.50 only.
Braised Beef Tendon & Brisket 淨柱侯牛筋腩
RM19.90 (Small) | RM29.90 (Large)
Another one dish i must have during my Hong Kong visit, i found Mak's Chee version is quite similar with the authentic Hong Kong style braised beef tendon & brisket! You must also try this! It is one of the most famous comfort food in China and Hong Kong, braised it to perfection and drawing in all the flavours from the condiments and spices added, the beef are so succulent.
Deep Fried Wonton 酥炸云吞
RM16.90 (8 pcs) | RM23.90 (12pcs)
It is their all time best seller and must-have-snack in Mak's Chee. It is one of the most delicious wontons that i had, perfectly fried until crispy and crunchy on the outside and moist on the inner part filled with bouncy fresh prawn. It was so good!!!
HK KaiLan with Oyster Sauce 蚝油香港芥兰 RM10.90
Champion Milk Tea on bed of ice 冰镇金茶王 RM6.90
For the drinks, Mak's Chee offer Hong-Kong-Style beverage such as milk tea, Yuan Yang, Pear drink, floral tea, Alpine Oolong tea, Kumquat drink and more.
I am super fan of Hong Kong milk tea, of course i will order their signature drink - Champion Milk Tea on bed of ice. This is the best way to serve a cold milk tea without getting diluted by melting ice whilst you can enjoy the cooling sensation. Highly recommended to you all as this milk tea is more mouth rich with silky smooth texture and strong tea fragrant. I tried their Yuan Yang also but too bad that they mix too many milk in the drink and didn't make the flavour rich as i expected.
Lemon Water Cress Drink 西洋菜柠蜜
RM4.90 (Hot) | RM5.90 (Cold)
RM4.90 (Hot) | RM5.90 (Cold)
Without strong taste of water cress, this one taste more to like lemon honey but it is truly refreshing.
Apart from the promotional dish of Swiss Chicken Leg to commemorate the opening of business at Pavilion Elite, Mak’s Chee is also having a special Weekly Half-Priced (50% discount) Promotion:
